  • Posies Plan Farewell Album

    September 11 [12:00 EDT] -- Power pop purveyors the Posies are planning their swan song, and will return to their original record label to record the effort.

    November will see the final album from Jon Auer, Ken Stringfellow and company (tentatively titled "Success") released by Popllama Records, who unloaded the Posies debut effort, "Failure."

    A spokesperson for the band says that the Posies will play at least a few farewell dates before splintering into various side projects and solo careers.

    Since releasing "Failure," the band went on to record three more albums, gaining their greatest exposure with "Dream All Day" off of 1993's "Frosting on the Beater."

    The album will be called *This Sounds Like Goodbye* to be released on CD thru Hidden Agenda Records (AHA!004) and its possible that this will be out on vinyl too

    luck, by the end of 1997. We're just beside ourselves!!"

    "Kind of lo-fi, really pretty, and it's the type of stuff you find yourself humming all
    day long. It'll come on red vinyl in a really artsy sleeve. Bootsy does most of
    the singing and Ken plays drums (among other things). Very nice!"

  • THE POSIES are currently in the studio working on a new version of 'Flavor Of The Month' which will appear on the US TV show 'Bill Nye'.

  • A new album has been planned to be released on Poplama sometime this year.


  • Ken is no longer touring with Lagwagon
    His solo album is expected to be released in september.



  • The Orange Humble Band. Never heard of them? Well, don't worry, as no one has ...yet. It is a studio-only group put together by Daryl Mather (Some Loves, Lime Spiders) who has an album called "Assorted Creams" that features some of the best powerpop ever committed to disc. Lead vocals are by Ken Stringfellow from The Posies with Mitch Easter producing/playing guitar. Other band members include Bill Gibson. Peter Kelly and Matt Galvin.
    The record will be out some time late August now - no plans for shows but definitely a second LP to be recorded early next year.

  • Twin princess. This is Ken Strinfellow and his pal Bootsy Holler. This two track CD should be released in a few weeks.
