a review of 'AMAZING DISGRACE'

-"Amazing Disgrace by The Posies" ( I Herald,Pheiffer)

One of the few Seattle bands that didn't get labeled 'grunge', The Posies have quietly become one of the best bands in America. The Posies have no gimmicks other than playing good music. They are not idiots like Oasis, or tortured like Pearl Jam.

Amazing Disgrace starts off with the song Daily Mutilation, which is similar to any Foo Fighters song, although The Posies are more refined. Daily Mutilation is one of the few catchy song that stays catchy. Some songs, such as any Ace Of Base song, were catchy the first few listens, but became redundant fast. Amazing Disgrace is chalked full of your daily requirements of catchy Rock and Roll songs. Each song begs for another listen, fortunately for your ears, you can't stop listening.

Ontario, a song about wanting to visit Ontario, has a delicious hook that sucks you in to the song from the first note. Ontario, besides being a dandy province, is a light hearted look at the way the media influences our decisions. The lyrics state:

When I asked you "Why Ontario?"
You said "It sounds good on the radio"

Everyone Is A Fucken Liar is the 'angry' song on the album. The song could be interpreted as being against the 'grunge' scene. It could also be a slam against all the 'friends' you suddenly have when you play in a popular band:

Everyone I know is trying to get into this show

No matter what the songs is about, the song is fabulous!!

Grant hart sounds like anything being produced by the Southern California punk scene, most notably Green Day. Jon Auer must have been watching TV during the short stint when MTV was renamed GreenDayV.

Amazing Disgrace proves that The Posies are one of America's best kept secrets. Don't tell anyone about them! SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
